About Us

Don Ferm began United Industries in 1980 with the dream of beginning his own business. Using all of his and his wife’s savings they purchased 8 acres of land in the little town of Bentonville, Arkansas and built a 5,000 square foot building.

United Industries has gone through many changes in its history. First making styrofoam cups then sheet insulation for housing, insulated freezer panels, structural insulated panels for homes, cornice boards and finally foam centered panels for signs and displays.

United Industries has grown from it’s original 5,000 square feet over the years and continues to grow. Today, United Industries’ efforts are focused on producing a foam board line known as UltraBoard foam core sign panels. UltraBoard was first introduced in the late 1980’s and we now produce a variety of foam boards all under the UltraBoard moniker.

United Industries is a family owned business. Don Ferm has retired but the business continues to grow. Daily operations of United Industries have been handed to the next generation of the Ferm family.
